Why it’s important for the environment that we shop locally and support small businesses!

When you choose to buy from a small locally owned business, rather than the big “chain stores,” a greater portion of money is cycled back through the local economy, which creates a generally more prosperous, well-connected community. When you buy from a chain, that wealth is distributed elsewhere,

Locally owned businesses tend to make more local purchases, which require less transportation, resulting in less pollution and a smaller carbon footprint for the company. Additionally when you buy locally no shipping is required for you to receive the item- no airplanes, no transportation vehicles, no air pollution, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint for you!

When you buy locally less packaging waste is produced. When products are loaded for long distance travel, a lot of packaging is required in order to protect the goods from being damaged.  This additional packaging is a major cause of pollution and environmental damage! Even the packaging you receive the products in matters. When you purchase an item in person from Sustainable For Good, you’ll receive the product in a reusable, zero-waste, plastic free produce bag, and you’ll be emailed the receipt. When an item is shipped to you, the box is recycled, the packaging materials are recycled, even the tape that closes the packaging is plastic free and compostable.

Local goods are often of a better quality than mass-produced goods. When you go to Target and buy something, it doesn’t mean anything to the checker who rings you up, they barely even notice what the item is. It doesn’t matter to them if it is literally falling apart at the checkout stand. When you buy one of my products, the quality and longevity of the product is of the upmost importance- I made that product with my own hands, spent time chosing the material, and ensuring that the quality is perfect, and now you like it enough to purchase it?? It better be perfect because it’s a direct representation of me. Your love of the product also makes me want to do better, to create something even better, for you. You are literally promoting innovation and creativity! It’s magical. This is how it is for every small business owner!
